How long it takes to complete the theory test is as follows:
- Multiple choice part: 57 minutes.
- Hazard perception part: 15 minutes.
- Theory test completion time in total: 1 hour and 12 minutes.

Practice Session
The theory test begins with the multiple choice part and before this part begins, you’ll be offered a practice session. If this is your first theory test, then it’s probably a good idea to run through the practice session as it’ll prove an insight into how the test format works.
This practice session takes 15 minutes to complete, so take that into account when considering how long it takes to complete the theory test. You can however skip the practice session if you wish.
Three Minute Break
Upon completing the multiple choice part of the theory test, you can take a 3 minute break before starting the hazard perception part. You can end the 3 minute break at any time or skip it entirely if you wish.
Multiple Choice Part
The multiple choice part of the theory test has a total of 50 questions, in which you’re required to answer 44 questions to pass. Although you have a maximum of 57 minutes for the multiple choice part, you can complete this part of the test quicker if you wish. Although you can shorten the test duration, it’s advised that you use any extra time at the end to check your answers.
